ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in rural Coshocton, Ohio, Megan Lightell finds repose in the open and lush expanses of Appalachian landscapes. Like many born into an environment, it took Lightell living in New York, deprived of the natural world she left, to fully appreciate the potential for wonder within the land itself.

An homage to the idea of home within nature, Lightell’s solo exhibition explores the classic act of connecting to nature through observation and preserving the memory and experience in paint. Now more than ever, as the pandemic has shrunk and limited place to encompass only the repeated interiors of our houses, Lightell’s work offers four corners of solace—a glimpse into a home beyond the walls as we too revisit appreciation for the natural world around us.
