ARTIST STATEMENT

The work gives a nod to surrealism. The images are psychologically open ended.  The paintings result from reflection, trial and error, and the evocation of faith and chance. Traditional painting practices serve as a framework for a sense of place in the long history of painting. Keeping the door open during the process and the multilayered meaning in the work reflects much of how I see the ambiguous nature of reality.
